2020 Spring Pain Symposium
Virtual Pre-Recorded Course

Updated March 20, 2020

LPTA Spring Pain Symposium will be Offered as Virtual, Pre-Recorded Sessions

As many of you know, we have been closely monitoring the coronavirus crisis and recommendations by the Governor, WHO and CDC. Given the increasing uncertainty of the future ahead of us, and following the recommendations from experts and government authorities, the LPTA Executive Committee decided to cancel the in-person component of our 2020 Spring Pain Symposium. This has been a most difficult decision, but we believe that it is the only responsible action to take during these extraordinary times.

SESSIONS WILL BE RECORDED AND SENT VIRTUALLY TO REGISTRANTS

The course sessions will now be pre-recorded and sent to registrants via email. The Louisiana Physical Therapy Board has relaxed the number of online hours for the 2020 renewal period, and will allow licensees renewing this year the ability to use our "online" Symposium course to help meet their total number of required hours for the upcoming renewal. The Board has also extended the license renewal deadline to May 30, 2020. Please click here to read the official Board Resolution outlining the 2020 Renewal Waivers.

Those renewing in 2021 will still have to meet the "onsite" requirement of a minimum of 15 hours, but can take part in our Symposium course to earn online hours (maximum 15 hours) toward their required total hours for 2021.

LPTA will distribute the video presentations of our Pain Symposium course to registrants beginning Thursday, March 26, 2020. Once you sign into the sessions, you can work at your own pace and will have several days to complete the course. Once you have completed the number of hours you have registered for and send in your verification questionnaire and survey (to be sent along with the course access), we will send you a certificate for the amount of hours you have completed. Please note that you will only receive credit hours for the sessions you are registered for.

Please stay tuned for more information regarding how to access the session recordings once they are available.

REGISTRATION IS RE-OPEN!

We have re-opened registration for the virtual component of the Symposium courses to those who are interested. If you are registered already, you do not need to do anything- we will make the course available to you. We plan to still offer 15 credit hours, with an additional 2 hours for Ethics.

QUESTIONS

We are sure you have questions! Please be patient. We will continue to communicate with everyone involved in the Symposium and LPTA members.

UNCHARTED WATERS

This is a huge disappointment to all of us, including all the volunteers who have worked so hard to bring the Symposium to life. Yet these are uncharted waters, and everyone's health and safety matter most.

Thank you,

Joseph Shine, LPTA President
