2020 LPTA Fall Meeting In-Person Component CANCELLED; Courses to be Offered Virtually
As many of you know, we have been closely monitoring the coronavirus crisis and recommendations by the Governor, WHO and CDC. Given the ongoing uncertainty of the future due to the pandemic, the recent storms that have impacted our state, and following the recommendations from experts and government authorities, the LPTA Board of Directors has decided to cancel the in-person component of our 2020 Fall Meeting. This has been a most difficult decision, but we believe that it is the only responsible action to take during these extraordinary times.
Joseph Shine, PT, DPT
Registration for pre-recorded sessions is open through October 27, 2020! Rates for the virtual courses are discounted from the typical rates by 50%. You will have until October 30th to complete the course (must watch all course videos as well as complete the mandatory survey that will be sent with the videos). The links to the prerecorded courses will be sent out to all those registered on October 9, 2020. Those who register after this date will receive the course links within 48 hours of registering.
If you plan to attend the hybrid course "Physical Therapy Considerations for Patients with COVID-19 in Inpatient Rehab," the deadline to register is Wednesday, October 7, 2020. You will be sent the pre-recorded session (4.5 hours) on Thursday, October 8th, along with the Zoom meeting information for the virtual interactive portion. The virtual interactive portion of the course will be held via Zoom on October 10, 2020 from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm (totaling 1.5 hours), which will consist of a Q&A session and a case study discussion.
RECEIVING CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT
The Louisiana Physical Therapy Board has waived the live coursework requirement for 2021 renewals ONLY. Online courses are now allowed to be substituted for live courses during the 2021 renewal period. As of now, those renewing in 2022 will still have to meet the "live course" requirement of a minimum of 15 hours, but can still take part in our fall course to earn online hours (maximum 15 hours) toward their required total hours for 2022. Visit laptboard.org for more information.
The LPTA office will send you a link to a mandatory post-course survey along with the links to access the course video presentations. The survey will consist of two parts: 1) a short "test" of the courses you registered for to confirm that you watched the presentations, and 2) a short meeting feedback survey. You must complete and submit the survey in order to receive credit for watching the course videos. The LPTA office will email you a certificate of completion upon your survey submission (allow up to 72 hours after submitting the survey to receive your certificate). If you are enrolled in the Ethics Seminar, you will also be required to submit a short written assignment to the LPTA office after watching the course video (the speaker will provide the assignment prompt).
LPTA will not charge a cancellation fee and will provide 100% refund and/or appropriate partial refunds based on the registrants’ selected virtual programs upon request. To request a refund, please email email@example.com detailing your request.
VIRTUAL BUSINESS MEETING
A virtual Business Meeting is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 12:00 pm—12:45 pm. The purpose of this meeting is to inform you of the accomplishments LPTA has made over the past year and the future direction of LPTA. Election results will also be announced.
